The largest city in Santa Clara County and Northern California, San Jose is renowned as the one of the main centers of the high tech industry, and boasts a population of over 900,000. Almaden Lake Park is San Jose's only park featuring a sand beach and swim area for fishing, boating, hiking, wind surfing, picnicking and playing volleyball or horseshoes, as well as the site for the annual San Jose International Triathlon. Connected to Almaden Lake Park is the Los Alamitos Creek Trail, a 3.9-mile trail featuring a fitness course winding through scenic agricultural lands and riparian communities. For golf enthusiasts Almaden Country Club, a private golf course, is the setting for many professional golf matches. Through the Almaden Recreation and Community Center senior, youth and adult activities are coordinated offering arts & crafts, dance, exercise, music, drama, self defense, personal improvement, and pre-school age activities and classes. For those seeking a means of transportation to San Jose and the surrounding Bay Area other than the highways, a light-rail station at Coleman Street, on the north border, will take you to downtown as well as throughout the Bay Area.
